Clean Eating Dark Chocolate Banana Bread

One thing I have missed since being pregnant is the energy to cook! I am just now getting back in the kitchen and I can not tell you how good it feels. I have SO missed having a refrigerator full of leftovers and healthy snacks. It makes eating healthy so much easier when you have so many healthy options on hand. It is so hard to find packaged snacks that even compare to taste and nutritional value of homemade snacks.

My favorite healthy homemade snack is my homemade bread. They are made with old fashioned oats, honey, fruit and Greek yogurt! You could eat this for breakfast, snack or dessert!! Add in a few dark chocolate chips and you have the most decadent on-the-go snack or delicious dessert. You could top this with all natural peanut butter or organic whipped topping!

Clean Eating Dark Chocolate Banana Bread

  • 2 cups old fashioned oats (processed into a flour consistency in the food processor)
  • 2 medium bananas (mashed) or 1 cup mashed banana
  • 6 oz. plain Greek yogurt
  • 4 oz. unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate cocoa powder ( I use Hershey's Special Dark)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Topping: 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. 

Combine all ingredients (except for dark chocolate chips) in medium bowl and stir until combined. Place batter in loaf pan sprayed with coconut oil/ olive oil spray.

Bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

    1. Hmm...I used really ripe bananas and the dark chocolate chips on top really add a ton of flavor!

  3. I didn't have unsweetened apple sauce, so I used regular. I also added a half cup of dark chocolate chips to the batter. So tasty for a healthier treat. Will definitely make again!
