{What I Ate Wednesday} 8/28/13

Hi Everyone!! This is {What I Ate Wednesday} Vacation Style!!

I am having such a fabulous time but I wanted to show you guys that being on vacation isn't an excuse to go back to old habits. I eat basically the same as I do at home but I do allow myself a few more treats!

Breakfast (not pictured): We went to a local breakfast restaurant and I had 2 sliced of whole wheat toast, dipped in egg white and apple juice and placed on the griddle....french toast style. I topped that with a little maple syrup. I also had 2 slices of turkey bacon and a small bowl of fruit.

Snack: Small Gala apple and a Energy Bar

Lunch: Lunch was on the beach so we packed a cooler with La Croix, bottled water, banana wraps and plums. I also packed some organic applesauce, grapes, cheese sticks and organic bunny crackers for the kids to munch on!

Snack: Organic string cheese, an handful of pistachios and some black grapes

Dinner: This was SO delish! We went by a small local restaurant called Crooked Floor Tavern and we got salads for take out and some homemade mac and cheese for the kids. This place was the real deal. No boxed macaroni! It was homemade and the kids devoured it. My salad was a spring mix topped with carrots, onions, tomatoes, strawberries, Gorgonzola cheese, spiced pecans, thinly sliced steak and a balsamic dressing. This was one of the best salads that I have had in a LONG time! My husband got the salmon salad and his was equally as delicious!

After dinner treat: Skinny brownies

What is your favorite splurge on vacation?? Mine would have to be local ice cream!

  1. Local ice cream for sure! It's always fun to try out the areas favorites. That salad looks amazing. I might have to recreate that for dinner one night next week. Thanks for sharing how you're eating healthy while on vacation, it's really very helpful.
