{Clean Eating Jamaican Jerk Turkey Burgers}

Happy July you guys! Today is actually my 30th birthday!! It is kind of hard to say goodbye to my 20's and Hello to my 30's! I am actually really happy with where I am in my life right now so I can't complain! :)

July 4th will be here in a few days!! Time for cookouts and fireworks!  The one food that I associate with Independence day would have to be burgers!! It really isn't a cookout without a burger...right? I have been trying tons of recipes for turkey burgers and I haven't found one yet that I am absolutely in love with....until NOW!!

I adapted this recipe from Elana's Panty Green Chile Turkey Burgers. I kind of just threw in everything in my refrigerator and decided to add in this Jamaican Jerk seasoning that my parents brought me home from Jamaica. I was dying to try it and it was fabulous!!! These burgers were a HUGE hit with my family and I am sure they will be a huge hit with yours!!

Clean Eating Jamaican Jerk Turkey Burgers

{Makes 7 Burgers}

  • 1 lb. extra lean ground turkey (can use lean ground beef or ground chicken)
  • 1  small tomato (chopped)
  • 1 large handful of cilantro (chopped)
  • 1/2 small onion (chopped)
  • 2 (4 oz) cans of diced green chiles
  • 2 tsp. jerk seasoning (you can add more if you like things spicy)
  • 1/4 cup quick oats
  • 1 egg
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly with you hands.

Form into 7 patties and grill. :)

** I grilled these on my George Foreman grill for about 9 minutes. You could use an outdoor grill/ indoor grill pan/ saute pan to cook these.

I served these on toasted Ezekiel muffins with organic ketchup and sliced avocado. Delicious! My husband likes to add Siracha to his! You could really top these with anything! They are also great in lettuce wraps!

ENJOY!!!
